Warrantia Chartje

In old praotice. warranty of charter. A writ which lay for one who, being enfeoffed of lands or tenements, wlth a clause of warranty, was afterwards Impleaded in an assize or other action in which he could not vouch to warranty. In such case, it might be brought against the warrantor, to compel him to as-slst the tenant with a good plea or defense, or else to render damages and the value of the land, If’ recovered agalnst the tenant Cowell; 3 Bl.
